Style Scouting: Vol. 34

Hello – Hello –

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting where I share what’s up in my life and the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

I know it’s Saturday and I usually post Style Scouting on Sunday, but I am participating in blog hop on Sunday, hence I needed to shift days. So it is going to be a two post weekend. :-)

Ed and I are getting our Covid vaccine this morning. Have you gotten yours yet? If you haven’t and you want to know more about the vaccines. Reading this information helped.

It has been in the mid to high 70’s this week in South Carolina. I have been wearing shorts and t-shirts. We even were able to enjoy eating dinner outside on the deck. Seeing everything start to bloom is so energizing! Are you seeing signs of Spring yet where you live?

What I Found Inspiring This Week:

Decorating

I LOVE everything about this home.… and I mean every inch!

This kitchen decorating trend would be how I would design a new kitchen.

Classic! For your next furniture makeover.

I enjoying seeing people living in unique spaces like this home has.

Adding interest to a room with a DIY wood beam.

March Madness that is not related to basketball. I couldn’t agree more with Meg’s post.

Make It

A clever repurpose of something you may have, but never use anymore.

I really like this file holder, but not the price tag. I am trying to come up with a DIY way to make one that looks similar. Maybe do something like I did for my nightstand.

How to get your house to smell like William Sonoma and more recipes for every season. No essential oils or diffuser needed for these recipes.

Garden

Spring garden planning tips.

Life & Style

We should all being doing this.

My favorite bath soap.

With my grey hair, certain colors look better on me and the color of this hoodie I bought is one of them.

My twin sister sent me a pack of these inexpensive scrubbers. I have been using one for two weeks now and understand why she sent them – so much better than a washcloth or electronic gadget to wash your face. I also like that the handle has a double purpose, it is a suction cup that you can stick to your bathroom sink mirror to allow the scrubber to dry.

Interesting

Not by slaves or aliens…. How the pyramids were really built.

  1. Hi Diane,
I loved the links this week (and every week). That Norwegian home is to die for. Enjoy the nice weather…we are all over the place with the weather here in Michigan, but the sun has been shining, and that is always a good thing!

  2. We had 70 degree weather on Monday here in Denver, CO and now today and tomorrow we are forecast to get 2-3 feet of snow. Such is Spring in Colorado! My garden has zero sign of the Spring flowers poking their heads out yet. While stocking up on groceries yesterday to get through the storm I couldn’t resist buying some vegetable seeds for my Summer container gardens, however! We need the moisture but honestly I can do without shoveling 3 feet of snow.
It will be 60 degrees Friday of this coming week, so I’ll just have to wait it out.

  3. Hi Diane, I don’t miss a single one of your Style Scouting posts as they are full of super information and fun trends. I must say I love the “unfitted Kitchen” idea. I follow auctions in my area and they always list lots of “antique” furniture pieces. These sturdy, well made pieces of furniture are no longer in demand as the younger generation likes more trendy styles. Consequently, this furniture goes for very little money and would be beautiful in an unfitted kitchen. I watched the pyramid video…how interesting. Good to hear you and Ed got your vaccine. Hubby and I got our 2nd shot (Moderna) over a week ago. I had a little fever and some aches but hubby had no reaction. Which shot are you guys getting? We’ve had beautiful warm temps this week but will be back to normal cooler weather in the coming week. I’m so ready for spring!

  4. Hi Diane,

I enjoy seeing and reading your post, I am a visual person and enjoy the ideas that you have,

My immediate plan for this week is to buy two new pillows for my living room couch. I replaced the two panel of curtains on the front window behind the couch. So I know I need to pop some color with the right pillows, I have broken down this project to complete this area of the living room.

    Thanks for your great ideas,

    Nancy N.

  5. I may have to try the scrubbers…good to know about them.
It’s definitely Spring in AZ. Just had some rain that is much needed as we have a huge rain deficit
Congratulations on getting your shots today! My husband and I got our 1st this week and looking forward to the second in early April 👏

  6. Diane
I so agree that Scandinavian home is beautiful. I have been scouring sites for decorating our retirement home once we retire
Thank you for once again sharing great ideas

  7. Diane,
I love that soap! With my dry and very sensitive skin it is a dream.
Thanks for the link to the home fragrances that use real ingredients rather than essential oils.
I look forward to you Style Scouting posts each week and how you share your projects and DYI techniques.

  8. Diane I love the picture of you, you look beautiful. I can certainly see you in the pink colored hoodie.
I had my second vaccination on 2/10 and I am looking forward to time with my grandchildren and being able to travel once again. Thank you for brightening my day.

  9. Diane, your link to garden planning includes a photo of tutuers, which I mentioned when you were asking about trellis recommendations. My husband made ours. It was his first COVID lockdown “honey do” project. The spring weather here this week has me itching to place it back out in the garden.

  10. I think I’ll give those house fragrances a try. It would be nice to not always need a candle burning.
